Leonie Esser has been a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Clinical Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience since October 2024.
Her research focuses on the neural correlates of affective disorders with an emphasis on emotion regulation and empathy. She is also interested in the impact of early-life stress on depressive symptomatology and in the neurobiological mechanisms underlying this association.
