Julia Stietz is a PhD student at the Chair of Clinical Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience since November 2017. In her doctoral thesis, she investigates the development of empathy, compassion, and Theory of Mind as well as their neural bases across the adult lifespan. She uses both magnetic resonance imaging and behavioral measurements for her research. In addition, she is interested in i) how these social-affective and -cognitive processes can emerge and be fostered early in life as well as ii) how contemplative practices such as yoga and meditation influence social behavior and underlying brain structures.
