New study on prospective memory
A new study by Marcel Kurtz and colleagues has been published in Memory and Cognition! Using a new prospective memory task, the authors were able to show how intentions can affect ongoing activities. In this regard, the authors found evidence for a strategic suspension of ongoing activities, facilitating the perception of cues that recall the intention. In addition, the authors showed that already completed intentions affect ongoing activities in two consecutive ways. First, the intention is reflexively reactivated, and second, this reactivation is followed by a more time-consuming memory process.
