Neural correlates of emotion regulation following trauma
Adverse life events put people at a high risk for the development of mental disorders. One of the most important processes involved in trauma-related disorders is emotion regulation. Understanding the neural basis of emotion dysregulation after trauma could reveal important details about how trauma interferes with emotional regulation systems. In turn, a better understanding of underlying mechanisms can inform the development of more specific therapeutic interventions.
In their recent mini review, Annika Konrad, Andrei C. Miu, Sebastian Trautmann and Philipp Kanske summarize the current literature to identify relevant gaps and challenges for future studies.
