Lecture Series "Conceptions of Human Operators - Valuable Expertise or Disturbing Factor?"Vortrag: Prof. Dr. Annette Kluge - 10 year of research with the AWASim/WaTrSim (wastewater treatment) plant simulation
“10 year of research with the AWASim/WaTrSim (wastewater treatment) plant simulation: initial & refresher training, gaze guiding and rule violation research for understanding and predicting individual operator and team performance”
The presentation will give an overview over 10 years of AWASim/WaTrSim (Waste Water Treatment simulation)-research to understand and improve operator behaviour and performance while learning and maintaining skills for task and team work in complex technical systems. Several DFG funded studies will be reviewed that have shown the impact of person-related and training method related factors on skill acquisition and retention. Over the years WaTrSim has been continuously developed further to serve many different research purposes, e.g. safety issues and preconditions for rule violations of operators who perceive a work-safety-tension. Preconditions with a high impact are e.g. safety audits, the communication of production goals and incentive or punishment systems respectively. Finally, the newest augmented WaTrSim version for investigating the impact of ambient awareness on temporal coordination of two person teams will be presented.
