About Us

The Open Science Inititative of the Faculty of Psychology at TU Dresden is committed to promoting Open Science practices and offers mutual consultation and support in the implementation of Open Science practices, as well as exchange on the advantages and disadvantages of Open Science methods in the context of the standards of good scientific practice and research transparency.

Open Science Award

With OSIP's Open Science Awards, the Faculty of Psychology supports the application and promotion of transparent and open research practices that go beyond what is usually rewarded. Awards may be given for contributions in the form of publications and other activities (e.g. development and implementation of Open Science courses, publication of data, development of Open Science procedures) that implement the OSIP Research Transparency Statement in an exemplary manner or contribute to its implementation.

Consulta­tion Hour

Josephine Zerna and Christoph Scheffel offer a weekly Open Science consultation hour during the lecture period. The consultation hour provides an opportunity to discuss a wide variety of questions with OSIP members who are experienced in Open Science. This can range from basic questions about writing a preregistration to more complex questions about implementing Open Data on a specific dataset.

OSIP

In 2016, the Open Science Initiative was founded to bring Open Science more into the discourse of the faculty and the university and to anchor good scientific practice in everyday research. Since then, the initiative has grown and brings together researchers from diverse backgrounds.
In joint discussions, presentations and workshops, we discuss strategies internally and with people from outside OSIP to make our research reliable, accessible and reusable. It is equally important to us to carry Open Science into teaching, supervision, appointments and tenure track evaluation. To this end, we have also set up our own Open Science consultation hour, where both students and researchers can come with their questions. In 2020, the OSIP Open Science Award was presented for the first time to honour the application and promotion of transparent research practices.
