Professors Ansgar and Benedikt Schulz (Chair of Architectural Design and Construction I) have received funding approval from the DBU (German Federal Environmental Foundation) for a joint research project with the Chair of Structural Design of Prof. Dr. Matthias Beckh.
Both Chairs will jointly investigate vertical components made of solid natural stone as an ecological alternative to previous load-bearing elements. In this context, the properties of natural stone, such as load-bearing behavior, joining possibilities and life cycle assessment for use as a future primary construction material, including in hybrid construction methods, will be researched.
Chair EK I and TWP's research partner is the German Natural Stone Association (DNV) in Würzburg.
