Diversity TU go: Origin counts - always...
Social background often plays a greater role in academia than it seems at first glance. Although universities see themselves as open and equal-opportunity places, it is clear in practice that educational paths are not equally accessible to everyone. Academic careers are often characterized by unwritten rules and expectations, which are particularly challenging for first-time academics.
- How is it that most teachers come from an academic background?
- What (implicit) rules apply on campus?
- How does social background influence academic careers?
- What measures can bring about more educational equality in academic and university culture in the long term?
The second workshop in our "Diversity TU go" series is dedicated to these questions. Together, we will discuss existing obstacles and possible solutions.
