Study requirements
Prerequisites for the Tropical Forestry Master’s degree program are:
• Completed university degree program in the area of forest sciences or a similar subject (e.g. agriculture, horticulture, landscape architecture and regional planning, geography, water management, biology)
• Knowledge of English (TOEFL ibt 4.5 or IELTS 6.0)
• Proof of special suitability in accordance with the suitability assessment regulations
Registration for the aptitude assessment or the NC selection process as well as application for admission to a degree program
Your degree program requires you to take part in an aptitude assessment or selection process. To do this, you must have the following documents ready. You will be informed after your online application in which form and deadline the documents will be requested from you (by post or online). Please make sure that your application number, which was assigned to you when applying online, is indicated in your application documents. If you are unable to apply via the selma portal before the deadline, you don’t need to include your application number.

Registration for the aptitude assessment procedure takes place via the faculty's online registration portal:
The following documents must be uploaded there:
• Copy of the original and officially certified translation (German or English) of the degree certificate of the required first university degree including official transcript of records. If the first university degree is not yet available: Confirmation from the first university that at least 80% of the work required for the current university degree programme has been completed, as well as information on the current average grade for degree programmes with entry restrictions (form on the Admission Office website
• Rationale for the application (motivation letter)
• Proposal of research topic for the M.Sc. thesis
• CV in tabular form
• 2 letters of recommendation
• passport photo
• Certificate of English language proficiency (TOEFL ibt 4.5 or IELTS 6.0)
