Study requirements
Requirements for the master's program:
• first in Germany recognized university degree that qualifies for a profession in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Planning, Open Space Development and Landscape Development or an equivalent (related in terms of its content but differently called) degree program and
• particular suitability with respect to planning or designing and scientific skills and a strong motivation and
• particular suitability by broad knowledge and expertise in at least three of the following subject areas:
- Landscape Planning
- Landscape Architecture / Open Space Development
- Landscape Engineering
- Plants Use
- Preservation of Garden Monuments / History of Landscape Architecture
German language requirements
International applicants and German applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification are kindly advised to read the requirements for German-language courses.
Registration for the aptitude assessment or the NC selection process as well as application for admission to a degree program
Please note: If you are required to apply via the uni-assist portal, you will receive all information regarding the application and the aptitude assessment process from uni-assist.
Registration for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure
Your degree program requires participation in an aptitude assessment or selection procedure conducted by your future faculty. You must have the documents listed in the next section ready for this purpose. Please pay attention to the information regarding the deadline and submission format (by mail or online) required for these documents.
Please note: If the faculty’s website also requests specific documents, that list takes precedence.
Please note: For some degree programs, the deadline to register for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure may fall before the application period of the degree program.
Application for the degree program
In addition, you must apply for the degree program by entering your application details into the TU Dresden online application portal. Please observe the application deadlines for the degree program. Upon applying, you will receive an application number; you may need this number to register for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure and for any subsequent inquiries.
- For degree programs without restricted admission: Once your aptitude has been confirmed, please send the notice of aptitude and all requested documents to the Admissions Office or the International Office.
- For degree programs with restricted admission: You will receive a separate request to submit the required documents (including the notice of aptitude, if an aptitude assessment procedure is a prerequisite) only upon receiving your letter of admission.
Degree-specific information and documents
• Application for the suitability assessment on the website of the faculty
• Copy of the original and officially certified translation (German or English) of the degree certificate of the required first university degree including official transcript of records. If the first university degree is not yet available: Confirmation from the first university that at least 80% of the work required for the current university degree program has been completed, as well as information on the current average grade for degree programs with entry restrictions (form on the Admission Office website
• Presentation of an own project, plan or draft as proof for the suitability (A3 sheet)
• Up to two pages of summary or extract from a self-written subject-related scientific text as proof for the suitability (A4 sheet)
• Educational background in tabular form as well as account of motivation
• Appropriate documents or certificates to prove a particular suitability
