Study requirements
Requirements to be admitted to the degree program:
• A first university degree which is recognized in Germany or a qualification from an officially recognized vocational academy in Social Pedagogy or Social Work,
• Broad knowledge and skills in the areas of professional and discipline-theoretical approaches to social pedagogy, foundations of education and empirical research methods, and
• An internship comprising 450 hours or a practical module (at least 15 credit points) as part of the prerequisite degree program pursuant to No. 1.
German language requirements
International applicants and German applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification are kindly advised to read the requirements for German-language courses.
Registration for the aptitude assessment or the NC selection process as well as application for admission to a degree program
Your degree program requires you to take part in an aptitude assessment or selection process. To do this, you must have the following documents ready. You will be informed after your online application in which form and deadline the documents will be requested from you (by post or online). Please make sure that your application number, which was assigned to you when applying online, is indicated in your application documents. If you are unable to apply via the selma portal before the deadline, you don’t need to include your application number.
Degree-specific information and documents
• formal application form,
• Copy of the original and officially certified translation (German or English) of the degree certificate of the required first university degree including official transcript of records. If the first university degree is not yet available: Confirmation from the first university that at least 80% of the work required for the current university degree programme has been completed, as well as information on the current average grade for degree programmes with entry restrictions (form on the Admission Office website
• copies of additional certificates and evidence proving the special qualification according to § 2 paragraph 1 number 2,
• confirmation by the institution of higher education or state or state-approved university of cooperative education where the prerequisite degree was obtained and where a 450-hour internship or internship module (at least 15 LP) was completed as part of the prerequisite studies in accordance with § 2 paragraph 1 number 1
