Study requirements
To be admitted to the degree program, applicants must have completed a first degree in engineering (civil engineering, economics and engineering, transport engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or computer science), in the natural sciences (physics, mathematics, geography or geodesy), in transport economics, or another degree guaranteeing comparable prior knowledge at a university or vocational academy that is officially recognized in Germany and qualifies the degree holder for a profession.
Furthermore, special knowledge is required in mathematics, physics, technical mechanics and computer science as well as proficiency in English at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Prior knowledge in air transport may be beneficial. Proof of special knowledge is to be provided pursuant to the Aptitude Assessment Regulations. An assessment interview will be conducted if necessary.

Registration for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure
Your degree program requires participation in an aptitude assessment or selection procedure conducted by your future faculty. You must have the documents listed in the next section ready for this purpose. Please pay attention to the information regarding the deadline and submission format (by mail or online) required for these documents.
Please note: If the faculty’s website also requests specific documents, that list takes precedence.
Please note: For some degree programs, the deadline to register for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure may fall before the application period of the degree program.
Application for the degree program
In addition, you must apply for the degree program by entering your application details into the TU Dresden online application portal. Please observe the application deadlines for the degree program. Upon applying, you will receive an application number; you may need this number to register for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure and for any subsequent inquiries.
- For degree programs without restricted admission: Once your aptitude has been confirmed, please send the notice of aptitude and all requested documents to the Admissions Office or the International Office.
- For degree programs with restricted admission: You will receive a separate request to submit the required documents (including the notice of aptitude, if an aptitude assessment procedure is a prerequisite) only upon receiving your letter of admission.
Degree-specific information and documents
• Application for the aptitude assessment on the faculty page including the following documents:
• Copy of the original and officially certified translation (German or English) of the degree certificate of the required first university degree including official transcript of records. If the first university degree is not yet available: Confirmation from the first university that at least 80% of the work required for the current university degree programme has been completed, as well as information on the current average grade for degree programmes with entry restrictions (form on the Admission Office website
• Proof of required English language proficiency, such as a certificate of general or subject-specific university entrance qualification that serves as evidence of having studied English as a foreign language from grades 5-12, a certificate of a university degree completed entirely in English, or a language certificate such as TOEFL IBT (with a score of at least 72) (Neu: 4 points) or IELTS (5.5).
• Copies of certificates proving the required specialized knowledge
• If applicable, proof of professional experience or practical qualifications (in the form of a job reference, job description, certificates or similar)
