Study requirements
In order to be accepted into the programme, you must have obtained a degree or a qualification that is recognised in Germany in the fields of chemistry, biology, molecular biotechnology or a comparable field from a university or state/state-approved university of cooperative education. A further requirement is proficiency in the English language at the B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is also required.
The following documents are accepted as proof: Certificate of general or subject-specific university entrance qualification with a basic or advanced course completed in English or comparable levels, a university entrance qualification completed entirely in English or a certificate of a university degree completed entirely in English, TOEFL test (internet-based) with at least 79 points (New: 4.5) and at least 18 points in each sub-category , IELTS test with at least level 6.0 passed in all sub-categories or UNIcert test with at least level II.
Registration for the aptitude assessment or the NC selection process as well as application for admission to a degree program
Please note: If you are required to apply via the uni-assist portal, you will receive all information regarding the application and the aptitude assessment process from uni-assist.
Registration for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure
Your degree program requires participation in an aptitude assessment or selection procedure conducted by your future faculty. You must have the documents listed in the next section ready for this purpose. Please pay attention to the information regarding the deadline and submission format (by mail or online) required for these documents.
Please note: If the faculty’s website also requests specific documents, that list takes precedence.
Please note: For some degree programs, the deadline to register for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure may fall before the application period of the degree program.
Application for the degree program
In addition, you must apply for the degree program by entering your application details into the TU Dresden online application portal. Please observe the application deadlines for the degree program. Upon applying, you will receive an application number; you may need this number to register for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure and for any subsequent inquiries.
- For degree programs without restricted admission: Once your aptitude has been confirmed, please send the notice of aptitude and all requested documents to the Admissions Office or the International Office.
- For degree programs with restricted admission: You will receive a separate request to submit the required documents (including the notice of aptitude, if an aptitude assessment procedure is a prerequisite) only upon receiving your letter of admission.
Degree-specific information and documents
Registration for the aptitude assessment procedure takes place via the faculty's online registration portal:
The following documents must be uploaded there:
• A tabular curriculum vitae (CV) written in English, outlining your professional career (education, studies, internships, publications, etc.),
• A copy of your certificate of a first professional degree (including transcript of records and diploma supplement) or a transcript of records issued by the relevant examination office, showing all completed coursework and examinations; if these documents are not in English or German, an official German or English translation must also be submitted,
• A copy of the module descriptions or comparable course summaries with a clear allocation to the coursework that demonstrates aptitude according to § 5; if these documents are not in English or German, a German or English translation must be submitted,
• Proof of English language proficiency at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Proof of language proficiency is considered fulfilled if:
a) a certificate of general or subject-specific university entrance qualification with documented language proficiency,
b) the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL internet-based) has been passed with a minimum overall score of 79 (New: 4.5) and a minimum score of 18 in each section, or
c) the IELTS test has been passed with a minimum score of 6.0 in all sections, or
d) the UNIcert test has been passed with a minimum score of II.
