Admission requirements
The prerequisite for admission to the course of study is a first university degree recognised in Germany as a professional qualification or a degree from a state or state-recognised university of cooperative education in geography or in a relevant subject. Furthermore, knowledge of the English language at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required. Proof is provided via TOEFL (Paper 500 or Computer 170 or Internet 80), IELTS 5.0 or comparable proof.

International applicants and German applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification are kindly advised to read the requirements for German-language courses.
Notes on the application process
If, at the time of application, proof of the first degree qualifying the applicant for a profession is not yet available, the application will be considered under the precondition that 80% of the credit points attainable for the degree have already been achieved based on completed module examinations or the final thesis and the colloquium (if applicable). A certification from the awarding institute of higher education (examination office) serves as proof of the above-mentioned academic achievements. General information about the degree program
The research-oriented master program Geography builds upon the bachelor program. Graduates have broad and well-established knowledge in the field of geography, the methods of empirical geoscientific research, and the current challenges in selected practical applications of Geography.
The program consists of an integrative section, which encompasses topics in environmental risks, spatial data infrastructure, economic structural change, and change in geographical areas as well as fundamental geographical concepts. Furthermore, the course of study addresses geographical methods and offers the chance to specialize in one of the following fields: urban development or environmental changes.
