Trees for the Campus - Project "Adopt a Tree" launched on May 18th

Location of the first new tree in front of Günther-Landgraf-Bau (Mommsenstraße)
The Campus of TU Dresden should get more trees again. For this reason the student environmental group TU Umweltinitiative (tuuwi) initiated the project "Baumpatenschaften", a project to adopt trees on the campus.
Official start was a celebration on May 18th, 10 a.m. in front of Günther-Landgraf Building (Mommsenstraße). As patron of the project Professor Hans Müller-Steinhagen, Rector of TU Dresden, adopted the first tree, a field maple (acer campestre). Second donator is Professor Stefan Gumhold (Faculty of Computer Science). His mahaleb (prunus mahaleb) has been planted behind Gerhart-Potthoff Building.
The background of the project is that due to building activities and legal duties to maintain safety on the campus various trees had to be cut down in recent years. In cooperation with the environmental management of TU Dresden and the Staatsbetrieb Sächsisches Immobilien- und Baumanagement (SIB) the student initiative tuuwi is aiming at planting many new trees. The trees are financed by donators, so-called "Baumpaten". Further plantings are planned for autumn 2018. If you want to support the project as a donator please contact us.
