With our research and the ongoing development of our research profile, we are already contributing to solving climate and sustainability issues and to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sustainability research that is of relevance to society will be strategically strengthened so that the university can make key contributions to the challenges facing society even more visible and application-oriented. By participating in international networks and alliances, TU Dresden can influence policy-makers to make a commitment to sustainability. Research activities are also to be designed in a sustainable and responsible manner.
Our objectives
With its Sustainability Strategy, TU Dresden is committed to the following goals:
- Research at TU Dresden makes central contributions to sustainable development with an international perspective.
- TU Dresden organizes its research activities sustainably and uses the available resources responsibly.
Measures
The working plan for achieving the sustainability goals for 2023 – 2030 comprises 80 measures for all six areas of activity. Below, we present three key priority measures for the research area of activity.
- Structural promotion of sustainability research at TU Dresden (short-term)
Advice, networking, and information services for researchers, with the aim of strengthening research on ecological sustainability at TU Dresden. - Visualization of sustainability information in the Research Information System (FIS) (medium-term)
Expansion of the FIS to include information on sustainability in research projects and publications, with the aim of making the diversity of research projects related to the Sustainable Development Goals visible. - Incentives for the sustainable and resource-conserving design of research activities (medium term)
Analysis of potentials, development of an incentive system, and application of recommendations for resource-conserving research, with the aim of making research at TU Dresden as resource efficient as possible.
