CORE HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUES IN UGANDA - NATIONAL COMMITMENT TO INTERNATIONAL NORMS
Samuel Makokha

Her Worship Nyanjura Doreen and Samuel Makokha
At German universities, human rights are often dealt with primarily from the perspective of the Global North. To complement this incomplete perspective, we are very much looking forward to the exchange with our guests, who will share with us their perspective on current issues and challenges in human rights work in Uganda and the concept of "universal human rights".
Her Worship Nyanjura Doreen, is a gender scholar and activist in the fight for Women, Youth and persons with disabilities rights. She is also the Executive Secretary for Trade of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) an opposition political party in Uganda
as well as the Deputy Lord Mayor of Kampala Capital City.
Samuel Makokha is the party secretary of the same party as well as a board member of the NGO "Voices for Labor", which campaigns for workers' rights in Uganda.
The duration of the event will be approx. 1,5 hours followed by an informal get-together with buffet.
We like to thank the State Chancellery of Saxony and der Development and Peace foundation as co-organizers for their cooperation.
