Some former students of the "Friedrich List" Dresden University of Transport have written down their memoirs. Others have published on topics related to the railroad system, especially history.

It was a tradition to celebrate a so-called "Bergfest" when half of the study period had been completed. For students of the 1959 matriculation class in the Department of Security and Telecommunications Engineering, this was the case in February 1962. This"Bergfest Magazine" was compiled by Gerd Walzebuck, Roland Schmidt and Günter Fidelak.

Horst Zimmermann was once a student at the HfV and later a teacher in Section 7 Military Transportation and Communications. The book contains vivid memories of his time in Dresden. The book is a gift from Mrs. Hannelore Zimmermann to the University Archives.
Siegfried Schaller "Alles im Leben hat seinen Preis - Erinnerungen eines Eisenbahners", NORA Verlagsgemeinschaft Dyck & Westerheide 2011
Siegfried Schaller was once a student at the HfV and both graduated and completed his doctorate under Prof. Potthoff. The book contains vivid memories of his time in Dresden and numerous photos.
