For high-quality video conferences up to FullHD quality, the DFNconf conference service DFNconf provides the Pexip platform. In addition to browser-based participation, dedicated video conference systems (VC systems) can also be dialed into a meeting via the H.323 and SIP protocols. This requires the VC system to be registered with a gatekeeper. These VC systems are available as complete solutions in the form of compact systems for small, medium or large groups of participants. Established products are available, for example, from Poly, Avaya, Cisco and Lifesize.

All VC systems worldwide that are able to do so can participate in a video conference in the German Research Network. The Host should always be an employee of a German scientific institution.
