Planning of safety-related systems (PSA21): Dr. Ulrich Maschek (#UM1)
Format
Course with asynchronous lectures, synchronous practicals and synchronous examination
Keywords
Online course, Opal, Onyx, activating methods, engineering
Description
The course was transferred to e-learning through an Opal course, which is nothing unexpected for an online semester to begin with. What makes the course special is its diversification through varied elements:
- Lecture snippets of 15–30 minutes alternated with test questions, which means that there were always activating elements in the imparting of knowledge (approx. 80 test questions were created.)
- Implementation of an online guest lecture
- Practicals held via video conferencing
- A timetable showed what needed to be done on which scheduled course date.
- Enrollment and topic selection for the seminar paper as well as file submission were done online.
- A forum for discussing subject-based questions was actively used.
- Messages, surveys, references and links to further content rounded off the Opal course.
- The examination was conducted using the Onyx examination platform.
Overall, the course was a well-rounded one consisting of much more than just recorded lectures.
