The road to Brussels and the Federal Foreign Office
Benedikt Wiedenhofer, Attaché in the Senior Foreign Service, Federal Foreign Office
Benedikt Wiedenhofer (IB MA'15) already specialized in trade policy during his studies. After graduating, his expertise helped him to secure his first permanent position at the European employers' association BusinessEurope in Brussels, where he worked as an Advisor in the International Affairs Advisor department from February 2018. There, he followed EU trade policy from the perspective of the European private sector, negotiated positions with member associations from over 30 European countries and fed these into the EU legislative process. In April 2023, he moved to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, where he worked on the Business and Industry Advisory Committee. He was responsible for investment policy, anti-corruption and responsible business conduct. After successfully passing the selection process for the Senior Foreign Service, he has been attending the Foreign Service Academy in Berlin, Tegel, since July 2024. After completing the one-year course, he will work as a diplomat at the Federal Foreign Office.
