EIB Lecture Series (4v4) on July 11: EIB Energy Lending Policy and Response to REPowerEU with Alessandro Boschi, Head of the Renewable Energy Division
On July 11, 2024, the Center for International Studies invites you to the fourth and last event in the lecture series "The European Investment Bank".
Mr. Alessandro Boschi, Head of the EIB's Renewable Energy Department, will give a one and a half hour lecture on Thursday, July 11, 2024, on the EIB's mission to support the European Green Deal and the REPower EU Plan.
Alessandro Boschi is a manager with 30 years of experience in the power sector at international level. He currently covers the position of Head of the Renewable Energy Division of the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg, where he is managing a team of experts in charge of the technical, economic and environmental appraisal of renewable energy and innovative low carbon technology projects applying for EIB financing. Until 2008, before joining EIB, Mr. Boschi worked for 15 years for an international utility, his last role being the Head of Business Development in Bulgaria. Before Bulgaria Mr. Boschi developed an international expertise in the development of energy projects spanning from Latin America to the Middle East. He graduated in Electrical Engineering at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and has an MBA from the Bologna based ALMA-Profingest Business School.
Alessandro Boschi will continue our lecture series in cooperation with the EIB Institute. He will particularly address the European Investment Bank (EIB) and its task is to support the European Green Deal and EU’s REPower EU plan to phase out Russian fossil fuel imports and accelerate the clean energy transition. To this end, EIB issued a new Energy Lending Policy in 2019, launched the Climate Bank Roadmap in 2020 and, since 2022, decided to ramp up its support to the goals of the REPowerEU plan. All these actions have already led to EIB reaching the highest level ever to clean energy lending in 2023.
