The Centre

Quality in teaching and learning, as well as in science, academics and research, has a long tradition of quality at the TU Dresden. Included in this are a variety of quality control and analysis instruments which are implemented to continually evaluate and improve the conditions of studying, teaching, and research.

The Centre for Quality Analysis (ZQA) was established as a central academic institution by the Rector on July 19th, 2011. It is a part of the quality management system for teaching and learning at the TU Dresden and is based on Principles of quality management in teaching and learning and Evaluation Procedures. By implementing quality analysis procedures for the faculties and departments as well as for the Rector, the ZQA contributes to the improvement of the quality of teaching and learning in the study programs. An extension of these tasks is foreseen with an expansion of the quality management system. In 2012 the ZQA began with the evaluation of the first study programs.

In 2015 and in 2023, the TU Dresden successfully completed the system accreditation procedure. The quality management system for teaching and learning received official recognition. Study programs that are established following the recognition of the accredited system or that were already a part of the internal quality assurance as specified by the accredited system are therefore considered accredited as well.

The development of a quality management system for teaching and learning constitutes the beginning of an extensive process. Quality management systems are currently being developed and implemented in the areas of research, support of young researchers, and administration.
