How to participate

Take the International Office's yellow backpack with you on your semester abroad and send us your photo on the theme of green travel. Show us what you are doing for sustainability during your stay abroad. Send us pictures (including the backpack) showing how you minimize your ecological footprint in your destination country or what ideas you have for living and/or traveling sustainably there. It's definitely worth taking part, because you could win an Interrail ticket!

So get stuck in and take part in our photo challenge!

What can you win?

• 1st prize: Interrail ticket
• 2nd prize: 50-euro voucher for the canteen
• 3rd prize: TUD package (hip bag, bicycle saddle cover, thermos flask)

The best photos are also expected to be exhibited from June 2025.

Conditions of participation

A smartphone is sufficient for this challenge: You don't need professional equipment. All that counts for us is your "green" idea.
Send us your photo (digital, preferably as a JPG, in good resolution, at least 240dpi) by March 1, 2025 to with the subject "Photo competition."

By submitting your photo, you agree to the use of your photo in TUD publications (analog & digital). Please send us the signed declaration of consent as a scan together with your photo.

How do you get a yellow backpack?

You can either pick up your backpack directly at the International Office in rooms 156 or 158 of the Fritz-Foerster-Bau or you can send your postal address to and we will send it to your home directly before your stay abroad.

Wanderung zum Nustfjord (Fabian - Norwegen ERASMUS)

"Nachdem mir die Sehnsucht nach in Schnee bedeckten Bergen wieder aufkam, entschied ich mich mit dem gewonnenen Interrailticket auf die Lofoten zu fahren, um dort zwischen den Bergen entlang der Fjorde zu wandern. Die Straßen waren spiegelglatt und ein kalter Wind wehte".

"Das Foto hat mein Vater von mir aufgenommen, als er mich in Japan besuchte. Wir sind zum Risshakuji-Tempel gefahren und haben uns dort bis zum höchsten Bauwerk durchgerungen. Bekannter ist dieser Ort unter dem Namen Yamadera, was wörtlich übersetzt „Bergtempel“ bedeutet. Da man 1000 Stufen durch einen mystischen Wald erklimmen muss, fühlt sich die Aussicht von der Spitze umso bedeutender an".

"The photo was taken shortly after a wine tasting in Saint-Émilion (near Bordeaux). We were on our way back to the train station and walked past some beautiful vineyards."

Lairig Feeling (Lukas - Scotland ERASMUS)

"I was with the Lairig Club (Student Society for Mountaineering and Climbing) in the Highlands of Scotland. We hiked to a bothy (mountain hut) and spent the night there, made a fire in the oven and played guitar. We then went climbing in the Cairngorms. It was cold and rainy, but with beautiful scenery, unique experiences and great people."
