Research Interests
My research has focused on studying 1) addiction and 2) impulsive decision-making, which is a characteristic feature and promising target for interventions across mental disorders. The major challenge in the treatment of addiction and mental illness in general is that effective therapies are available, but we often cannot anticipate which patients will benefit from which therapy. One approach to improve treatment matching may be to investigate common behavioral phenotypes, such as impulsive decision-making, and associated neural correlates across neuropsychiatric diseases, offering opportunities to elucidate neural substrates of mental disorders and to identify potential targets for treatment intervention and evaluation.
