Research Interests
My main research focus is on relating functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) connectivity measures to addiction and self-control with machine learning algorithms.
Shallow and deep learning algorithms are being used more and more in literature to understand how the brain functions are affected by its connectivity and to highlight which brain networks are more relevant to predict cognitive features. The main problem with this approach is the high risk of overfitting the models due to the number of features often being much higher than the subjects included in the study, therefore I’ll focus on optimizing the feature extraction to describe the brain connectivity in a reliable and interpretable way.
