Research Statement
Gerhard Bühringer has longstanding experience in the field of addiction research, including substance use disorders and behavioral addictions such as gambling disorder. His work comprises clinical research (treatment of alcohol, cannabis and heroin use disorders and gambling disorder), epidemiology (national adult population surveys including substance use and gambling disorders ), public health research (e.g. gambling regulation; treatment system analyses) and in recent years basic research on the role of cognitive control and learning in the aetiopathology of addictive behaviours.
