We are very pleased to welcome you in the Botanical Garden in Dresden! The greenhouses are open from 10 a.m. until garden closing time.
ATTENTION! Currently, certain outdoor areas are cordoned off. Oak processionary moth caterpillars are present there. Contact with the caterpillars' poisonous stinging hairs can cause allergic reactions.
The Boselgarten near Sörnewitz is open from April 1st to October 3rd each Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.

Getting here
The Botanical Garden is located in the city center, right next to the public park “Großer Garten”.
There are no parking spaces for visitors. We recommend the use of bicycles or public transportation to reach the Botanical Garden. The nearest tram stop ‘Straßburger Platz’ can be reached with the lines 1, 2, 4, 10, 12 and 13.
Entrance fee
Entrance to the Botanical Garden is free of charge – donations are welcome.
Further Information
Visitors with a disability can use the disabled parking bay close to the entrance. A wheelchair accessible toilet is located in the back of the garden next to the potted plant area (access with eurokey or on demand). The main routes in the garden are largely accessible to wheelchair users.
Benches can be found in the open-air area of the garden as well as in the succulent plant glasshouse and by the aquarium in the tropical glasshouse. In the summer season tables and chairs are available in the potted plant area. Toilets are situated at the entrance area of the tropical glasshouse.
Dogs are not allowed at the botanical garden unless they are being carried. Bicycles must not be used in the garden area, they can be left at the entrance.

Learn more about plants
Within the whole area of the botanical garden, plants are labeled with their scientific name and natural distribution. Information boards on selected topics complete this labeling.
An educational trail about Bionics explains how scientists get inspired by nature in their search for new technical developments (in German language). The trail starts about 60 meters behind the main entrance, next to the Gingko trees.
The guidebook “Heimische Flora in Gefahr” provides information about endangered plant species from Saxony in the Botanical Garden. Moreover, a DVD about the Botanical Garden Dresden and postcard booklets are available for sale. These materials can be purchased at the Office on working days from 10 am to 3.30 pm.
Guided tours for groups can be booked on workdays (minimum 12 persons). Free public guided tours are offered every first and third Sunday of the month (in German language).
