Botanical Garden Closes Due to Construction Work
The Botanical Garden will be closed from September 21, 2026, through February 28, 2027, due to construction work.
From September 2026 through mid-2028 (as currently planned), extensive construction work will take place in the garden’s entrance area: The war-damaged ruins of the former inspector’s house will be converted into a modern herbarium building. The garden will also receive a new electrical power plant and an underground utility tunnel through which all utility lines to the buildings and greenhouses will run in the future.
Due to the construction work, the Botanical Garden will be closed to the public from September 21, 2026, through February 28, 2027. During this time, the gardening team will also carry out urgently needed repairs and renovations in the greenhouses and outdoor areas.
Regardless of this, all educational events and guided tours announced for this period will take place—groups will be admitted on an individual basis.
From March 1, 2027, until the completion of construction work, the Botanical Garden will be temporarily accessible to the public only through a side entrance on the east side of the Great Garden.
