Art exhibition by Violeta Vollmer in the Botanical Garden

The queen of the night (Selenicereus grandiflorus) by Violeta Vollmer
Living desert plants are expected in the Botanical Garden of the TU Dresden. Most unexpected, however, is the company they get on the weekend of June 26 and 27: The artist Violeta Vollmer presents her drawings of cacti and other succulents in the desert plant house.
The Lithuanian-born artist has already worked in Argentina, Namibia, and Germany, where she lived for several years and contributed to numerous exhibitions. During her stays and travels abroad, she intensively studied the local flora and recorded her impressions photographically. Based on her photos from Africa and South America, she has now created impressive drawings of cacti, agaves and aloes and filigree flower visitors exclusively for the exhibition in the Botanical Garden. In the desert plant house between their living models, these unfold a very special effect.
Violeta Vollmer's work was awarded second place in the 2018 Brandenburg Art Prize. For more information on her career and diverse work, visit the artist's website.
Open June 26 and 27, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day.
Admission to the exhibition: 1 euro per person, all proceeds benefit the Botanical Garden.
Please note: Depending on the development of incidence figures, the exhibition may be postponed to a later date. Please check the Botanical Garden website for daily updates.
