13 years - a thank you and an innovation

(from left to right: Spokesperson Prof. Antonio Hurtado, Managing Director Dr. Anna Martius, Spokesperson Prof. Lutz Hagen)
I am writing today's news with less joy than I usually write or edit it. Although I made the decision myself, I announce it with sadness and, on the other hand, with the knowledge that it will open new doors: for the Research Training Group and for me personally. I started here on April 1, 2012. It was a memorable day, in the science container on Zellescher Weg with my private computer and no furniture, with 3 other students, one of whom - Mario Ludwig - had even been here since February 15, 2012 and had to get by somehow "without structure". A lot of good and professionalizing things have happened since then.
But now, after 13 years, I have resigned from TU Dresden and will be stepping down from the Research Training Group to start at the indusry. I hope that a successor will be able to enjoy very well-established structures and processes, a great team of doctoral students and supervisors, already established and institutionalized procedures and high standards. I also hope that this person will question things with new impetus and bring in their own touch with a breath of fresh air.
In the time I have left at the Research Training Group until September 30, 2025 at the latest I will work constructively on a good handover of the business, as the well-being of the Research Training Group, which I have been able to accompany almost from day one, is very important to me. I would like to say THANK YOU to all those who have faithfully and reliably accompanied and supported me, who make up life at the RTG, to all those who have made it exciting, who have always been sympathetic to the RTG, and I am grateful for a time in which we have always worked to make the RTG a little bit better. I would especially like to thank "my spokespersons" Antonio Hurtado and Lutz Hagen for the many hours in which we struggled to improve things both large and small, but also planned summer parties and surprises, and for the fact that we also took our last joint professional steps in a spirit of friendship. I didn't just have colleagues at the Research Training Group, I also found friends and one more family besides my private one. That is very valuable to me and will remain so. Thank you.
