Participation in the EURO 2024 conference in Copenhagen

From 30 June to 3 July 2024, fellow Julia Erdmann(project H1 - Mathematical optimization models for the design and analysis of cross-sectoral hydrogen value networks and regional transformation) had the opportunity to participate in the EURO 2024 conference, which took place this year at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Copenhagen. In addition to Ms. Erdmann, her supervisor Prof. Tristan Becker and Prof. Udo Buscher, supervisor of the H2 project, also took part in the conference.

This international event for the field of Operations Research attracted a total of around 3,000 participants and covered a wide range of topics, from mathematical optimization methods to machine learning. In addition to numerous technical lecture sessions, the conference offered a variety of networking opportunities and was a first-class platform for exchanging ideas with international scientists and discussing current research in this field.

A particular highlight for Julia Erdmann was her own presentation on "Dynamic Location-Routing with Modular Production Facilities and Resource Collection: A Variable Neighborhood Search Approach". In her presentation, she introduced an innovative mathematical optimization model for the design of a biomass-to-hydrogen supply chain as well as a heuristic solution method. The positive response and constructive feedback from the audience were extremely motivating for the continuation of her research work.

Overall, EURO 2024 was an inspiring and enriching experience for Julia Erdmann, which broadened her expertise and opened up new perspectives for future research projects. She is looking forward to incorporating the knowledge gained into her work and continuing to deepen it.
