Internationalization Prize - Teambuilding with Dresden University Sports Centre
It has taken us a long time to redeem the Internationalization Award. And for good reason: the bridging projects should be on board, in the truest sense of the word. Together with Jan Pötschke from the Dresden University Sports Centre and Jörg Aleith, trainer, board member and person responsible for inclusion at the Wassersportverein Lausitzer Seenland e.V. WSVLS, our team-building event took place on Lake Geierswalde on June 9th, 2022.
Sailing boat suitable for inclusion
During a guided tour of the club’s facilities with a presentation by former world rowing champion Jan Pötschke and German sailing champion Jörg Aleith, we learned a lot about the TU Dresden's inclusion project as part of its diversity management. Jörg Aleith generally counts the recruitment of young sailors and coaches as one of the biggest challenges, as well as being able to actively experience inclusion on the sailing boats at Lake Geierswalde.

Later, the doctoral students were able to try sailing, motor boating, stand-up paddling at a brave 18 degrees Celsius air temperature, or swimming in Lake Geierswalde at 20 degrees Celsius. Some involuntarily tried both. The (changing) galley team helped prepare the paella, the unifying element between all the activities, just as "rice serves as a binder in paella..." (Antonio Hurtado). A very successful day that brought us even closer together with lots of fun.
