Article on the Boysen Group in the Tagesschau
The energy transition goes hand in hand with a major change in energy sources. From 2035, no new conventional combustion engines are to be registered in Germany. By 2030, the federal government wants to have 15 million electric cars on Germany's roads.
Friedrich Boysen GmbH und Co KG, an exhaust technology company with around 5,200 employees at 27 locations in Germany and abroad, is at the heart of this mobility revolution. Headquartered in Altensteig, Baden-Württemberg, the Boysen Group is actively transforming itself from a supplier of combustion engines to an important stakeholder in electromobility. In this context, Managing Director Rolf Geisel was interviewed about the situation and opportunities for this industry in a tagesschau report on November 27, 2023.
The medium-sized company Boysen actively supports the transition to electromobility and, in line with Mr. Geisel's motto "No risk, no future", invests a large part of its turnover in the development and production of battery systems and hydrogen technology. The newly established development center for hydrogen and battery technology at the Simmersfeld site, the venue for the Boysen Foundation's annual doctoral student meetings (RTG reported), is an important step towards the future. However, further major investments and government support are needed to establish a competitive market. Research and innovation are also in demand and it becomes clear what an important role both the bridging of the gap between university research work at the Boysen-TU Dresden Research Training Group and industrial practice and the support of the Boysen company play for the future viability of Germany as a business location.
