Doctoral Student Björn Verse rides the DDc Science Tram (24th of May 2019)
For the fourth time, the DDc Science Tram of DRESDEN-concept invited interested Dresdeners to a meet and greet with the scientists regarding the topic "Climate change, energy transition, and sustainability - our responsibility!". With this, DRESDEN-concept aims to bring visitors and residents of the state capital closer to the strength and excellence of the Saxon research network. Alongside scientists from the HTW Dresden, the Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf, the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems, and the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development, TU Dresden also participated and was represented by Björn Verse, a doctoral student of the Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group, which began in 2019 under the title "Mobility in Transition".
He presented the Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group, which is dedicated to the complex field of mobility, technology, and society and is now in its third rotation of doctoral students, and specifically his doctoral project on the sustainability assessment of new business models in the transport sector, which he has been working on within his cluster since April of this year. He talked about the opportunities and challenges of new mobility products and services, e.g. ride pooling, free-floating car sharing, e-scooter and bike sharing, and under what conditions these offers can contribute to a more sustainable development of transport, especially in cities. During the 90-minute ride through Dresden, the passengers engaged in lively discussions about possibilities to change their own mobility behaviors as well as the transport conditions in German cities.
