Announcement of the spring colloquium 2023 and of the constituent Board Meeting
This year's Boysen-TUD-Research Training Group Spring Colloquium will be held on April 17, 2023! The colloquium will include numerous presentations in which the new clusters will introduce themselves to the scholars, the board of directors and the supervisors. On the same day, the constituent board meeting of the 4th Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group will take place.
Who hasn't experienced this before? A topic can be very interesting, but if the presentation slides are completely overcrowded or if there are too many presentations with different focuses, it is difficult to follow what is being said. That's why the new scholars should use a special presentation technique called Pecha Kucha (pronounced "Petscha Kutscha") to counteract this. The speakers' presentation contains exactly 20 slides and each slide is seen for exactly 20s. No stopping or skipping back, after 6 minutes and 40 seconds the presentation is over. In contrast to the meaning of the words, which in Japanese means something like "chatter", only essentials are allowed to play a role in these 400 seconds. The principle was first used by the architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham in 2003 and is particularly popular in the fields of architecture, design, art or at specially organized Pecha Kucha lecture evenings. This technique is certainly more challenging for speakers, but offers the chance to keep even long days of presentations fresh and interesting.
We are already looking forward to the spring colloquium and are excited to see how the Pecha Kucha method will be implemented by the scholars.
