56th Power Plant Technology Colloquium in Dresden with representatives of the RTG
On October 8 and 9, 2024, the 56th Power Plant Technology Colloquium took place at the Congress Center in Dresden under the scientific direction of Prof. Michael Beckmann, supervisor of Project F1 of the Boysen-TU Dresden Research Training Group and our spokesperson, Prof. Antonio Hurtado.
The two-day event was traditionally opened with a plenary session for all participants. Keynote speeches were given by Dr. Reiner Hasseloff, Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt, and Jorgo Chatzimarkakis from Hydrogen Europe in Brussels, Belgium, followed by a panel discussion on the topic of "Between Canada and Kuwait: What energy partnerships does Europe need?". In the afternoon, the Boie Young Talent Award was presented and two further presentations, such as "Creativity, innovation and confidence vs. fear of the future", were followed by a further, very lively panel discussion with the two scientific directors, among others, under professional moderation.
From late afternoon, specialist presentations were held in various rooms, divided into the main topics of (1) hydrogen. (2) Digitalization and in 5 conference rooms on the topics of (3) Waste gas purification, (4) Combustion and steam generation - power plants, (5) Energy storage, (6) Sewage sludge treatment and (7) Energy supply concepts.
After a very successful evening event, the main topics continued on the 2nd day and the Nuclear Energy Symposium and the 2nd Saxon Student Conference on "Circular Economy" also took place.
Our former doctoral student of the 3rd Boysen TUD Research Training Group, Dr.-Ing. Stefan Heidinger, presented his lecture "Enhancing combustion-driven boiler efficiency and competitiveness through advanced two-dimensional temperature measurement using optical pyrometers" together with Mehmet Emin Balyemez, representing his company, EUtech GmbH, Aachen. A successful event with many interesting topics for the Research Training Group.
