Prof. Krzywinski visits the Boysen-TUD RTG (June 24th, 2021)
On June 24th, 2021, the Boysen-TUD Research Training Group welcomed Prof. Jens Krzywinski for a guest lecture in which interdisciplinary research was examined from the perspectives of technical design and product development.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Krzywinski has headed the Chair of Industrial Design Engineering since April 2019 and previously held the junior professorship for Industrial Design Engineering from September 2012 to August 2018. His team consists of young and experienced employees with skills in all early design and research phases. The team enjoys a well-connected network in Dresden’s unique environment of research and creative industries and cooperates with a large number of national and international partners.
The work of technical design (TD) focuses on professional users. Interdisciplinary, basic research in the context of TD is devoted to accelerating research processes with the help of demonstrators, the use of design methods as a catalyst for new areas of application in various innovation projects, as well as the holistic consideration of future product systems. The study of TD combines industrial design with constructive mechanical engineering and is quite unique in Germany.
During the presentation, the colleagues of the Boysen-TUD Research Training Group received instructive information about the complexity of the interdisciplinary research work of TD and learned about its relevance for social issues of the future, in which the simple use of products will lead to increasing cooperation within complex product-service systems. Using a few example projects of the chair, it was shown how a successful transfer of knowledge and results to the wider economy can be achieved. Many thanks to Prof. Krzywinski for his inspiring and well-designed lecture.
