Successful completion of the doctorate
The former doctoral student of the 3rd Boysen-TU Dresden- Research Training Group, Eduardo A. Alarcón-Gerbier, successfully defended his dissertation on "Integrated location, production, and transport planning for modular and mobile facilities" on April 23, 2024. In his dissertation, he investigated the distribution problem of mobile (recycling) factories based on their production capacity, available (recyclable) resources, transportation costs and emissions. With the help of his developed combined methodology of heuristics, optimal distributions can be calculated much faster and more accurately for large instances compared to the exact method. He was awarded summa cum laude for his outstanding dissertation and defense.
