Verena Zapf successfully defends her doctoral thesis
On March 28th, 2023, Verena Zapf - former doctoral student of the 3rd Boysen-TU Dresden Research Training Group - successfully defended her dissertation entitled: "Perception of noise in urban green spaces". For the written work as well as the disputation she received the excellent overall grade summa cum laude.
Ms. Zapf is thus the first doctoral student of the 3rd Boysen-TUD-Research Training Group to successfully reach the last milestone in her doctoral process. Her work was supervised by Prof. Catrin Schmidt (supervisor and first examiner) and Prof. Ercan Altinsoy (second examiner). Her dissertation topic highlights the interdisciplinary collaboration between the Chair of Landscape Planning and the Chair of Acoustics and Haptics. The excellent dissertation shows how the main factors influencing noise perception affect urban green spaces and by which measures these can be subjectively reduced in order to increase the recreational quality of urban green spaces.
The Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group cordially congratulates Dr. Verena Zapf on this outstanding achievement and wishes her all the best for her future career!
