Lehre
"Sie werden nie etwas erreichen, es sei denn, Sie arbeiten darauf hin. Sie können nicht auf halbem Wege den Vorgang durchbrechen und, am wenigsten können Sie mit dem Ergebnis beginnen. Sie müssen von vorne beginnen. Dann werden Sie jede Spur von Künstlichkeit vermeiden und der schöpferische Prozess wird ohne Unterbrechung vor sich gehen."
Paul Klee, 1923 (an die Studenten des Bauhauses)

Courses offered
Module AD 310 - Design and Construction and CAD
AD 310 - Design and Construction 1+2 (V)
AD 310 - Design and Construction 1+2 (Ü )
Former designation :
Module K+T_BAUKO-II (BAUKO 2 - V/Ü)
The module includes the entire two-semester lecture and exercise series for the second year of study. The courses offered are Design and Construction 1 for the 3rd semester and Design and Construction 2 for the 4th semester. This course builds on the fundamentals of structural design 1+2 (module AD 120) taught in the first year of study and deals with in-depth and advanced topics, which essentially form the prerequisites for structural design in the third year of study.
In both semesters, the interaction between design and construction is supplemented by material topics in particular, which are intended to sensitize students to the professional use of materials. In this context, students also take a closer look at load-bearing structures and rough dimensioning of components.
While students in the 3rd semester focus on the constructive development of a manageable design task up to a scale of 1:50/1:20, the 4th semester focuses on the further development of details up to a scale of 1:1 in the areas of building envelopes and interior fittings.
Module AD 931 - Design and Construction 3 - Selected chapters
Former designation :
Module K+T_BAUKO-AKA (BAUKO 3 - EXERCISE)
In this course, which is offered in the fourth and fifth years of study, students have the opportunity to study more complex design topics in greater depth, with a focus on design development and planning. Analytical and comparative considerations of selected buildings are part of the work process. In application-related practical exercises, the theoretical principles are consolidated and prepared in various levels of detail using plan drawings and models.
Module AD 932 - Design and Construction 4 - Selected Constructions
Former designation :
Module K+T_BAUKO-IV (BAUKO 4 - SEMINAR)
In this course, which is also offered in the fourth and fifth year of study, selected chapters of building construction are presented and prepared in seminar form with special consideration and integration of related aspects and disciplines. Using selected architectural examples, a wide range of key topics are worked out through analysis and comparative consideration. The observations
The observations made and insights gained are summarized in the form of a presentation with elaboration.
Module AD 810 - Main design of building construction
Module AD 911 - Advanced design of building construction
Former designation :
Module PRO_3-HE_HB (3rd MAIN DESIGN OF BUILDING CONSTRUCTION)
Module PRO_5-VE_HB (5th DEEPENING DRAFT BUILDING)
Designing and constructing is a core professional competence at the center of architectural education. Students acquire in-depth knowledge in the integrative planning of structural systems. They further develop the ability to analyze complex tasks, apply suitable design methods, formulate architectural concepts and implement these in a design. Students develop the ability to present designs in a visually appealing way (e.g. in plans,
spatial representations, diagrams, models) and present them. They consolidate their planning skills, which enable them to practice architecture. The in-depth design builds on the ability to conceptualize, elaborate and present a design acquired in the main design.
The focus is on developing the ability to pursue their own design approaches and to integrate specific requirements from other disciplines into their own design. The design process already learned, consisting of the formulation of design objectives and design concepts, their implementation, evaluation, correction and presentation, is greatly expanded and becomes more complex. The degree of difficulty of the tasks, the variety of different design criteria and the independence of the work reach a new, higher level compared to the main design and confront the students with the requirements of the diploma thesis and later professional practice.
Module AD 651 - Impromptu design
Former designation :
Module PRO_STEG (STEGREIFENTWURF)
The focus of impromptu design is on the acquisition and conceptual solution of small design tasks in a limited amount of time. Such a task should enable creative thinking and precise action. It requires experimental solutions to be presented in a suitable form. This design training is intended to promote intuitive action and unconventional thinking.
DIPLOMA
In the course of the degree program, a wide variety of aspects of the broad field of architecture are taught. The knowledge acquired in design and construction should enable students to combine all elements of a complex task into an overall solution.
