EN-DEHORS, founded in 2022 by Romain Legros and Arnaud Michelet, is a
landscape architecture practice that places preservation and transformation at
the heart of its approach.
The office is committed to radical sobriety, prioritizing the enhancement of
existing structures and the reasoned use of local resources. For EN-DEHORS,
design begin with a careful reading of the built, social, and ecological context.
Moving beyond the traditional brief, the practice adopts a proactive stance to
reveal and reconsider latent potentials within the territory.
By identifying these opportunities, EN-DEHORS autonomously proposes
strategies to municipalities and public stakeholders. This culture of initiative
aims to «whisper» spatial solutions where needs have not yet been formally
articulated, acting as a lever for territorial transformation.
Spanning between the Lausanne region and Valais, their work is rooted in the
concept of «dormancy.» By investigating these sleeping sites and the «alreadythere,
» the office envisions landscape projects as the revelation of a site’s invisible
potentials. Minimal intervention and strategic anticipation become the
primary architectural acts in response to the scarcity of resources.
