Model Project Smart City Dresden at the Prohlis Intercultural Citizens' Festival
On the occasion of the Intercultural Citizens' Festival in Prohlis, the team from WISSENSARCHITEKTUR - Laboratory of Knowledge Architecture (TU Dresden) was once again present in one of Dresden's "intelligent quarters" as part of the Smart City model project. The co-design tool U_CODE inspired young and old alike.
Every year, the "Prohlis is colorful" network invites people to a citizens' festival as part of Dresden's "Intercultural Days". The association, network partners and private individuals from Prohlis invited people to take part in activities on the square in front of the Prohliszentrum.
As in the previous year, the WISSENSARCHITEKTUR team took the opportunity to provide information about the Smart City Dresden model project. The U_CODE co-design tool developed by the TU Dresden research group was particularly well received.
The tool makes it possible to be creative in a 3D model of your own neighborhood. For example, you can construct buildings, plant trees or create playgrounds. A low-threshold playground that makes you want to play, but also very vividly depicts the needs and ideas of the neighborhood residents. The children also had great fun with this application, marking special places or letting their imaginations run wild.
"Intelligent Quarters"
The "Intelligent Quarters" concept was established in the scientifically developed Smart City strategy . Following the guidelines of Dresden's "Integrated Urban Development Concept" (INSEK), three districts were selected that together represent a range of geographical and demographic framework conditions for urban development: Johannstadt, Friedrichstadt and Prohlis.
The WISSENSARCHITEKTUR team conducts regular participation formats in the districts under the title "Smart Participation" in order to determine the needs of the citizens for the further development of the districts. City festivals were defined as a fixed point for the so-called quarter workshops. They make it possible to reach a large number of residents. The results also provide a basis for comparison due to the annual rotation of the festivals.
Colleagues from the state capital informed interested parties about other aspects of the pilot project, the measures of which are presented on a joint website .
