Ansgar and Benedikt Schulz in the current issue of BThZ
The encounter with what people perceive as sacred always takes place in specific spaces. There is a close interplay between the space defined and experienced as sacred and the concrete local description of what is considered sacred. The current volume of BERLINER THEOLOGISCHE ZEITSCHRIFT offers reflections on this interplay and, in its interdisciplinary essays, explores essential, relational, material, functional, social and processual understandings of space in sacred architecture in the past and present.
Under the title "In Motion", Professors Ansgar and Benedikt Schulz (Chair of Architectural Design and Construction I) report in this volume on the redesign of the church interior of St. Rochus in Düsseldorf and the aim of harmonizing space and liturgy, allowing them to merge with one another.
