Dario Bottino Leone defended his dissertation on September 30th, 2024
Dario Bottino Leone successfully defended his dissertation "A new methodology for detailed modelling of historical masonry walls in one-dimensional hygrothermal simulations". He investigated the research question of how historical masonry walls can be modelled in one-dimensional hygrothermal simulations. The question is relevant for the areas of monument preservation and energy-efficient renovation of historical buildings in order to predict moisture damage such as mould or frost damage. If historical walls are not properly renovated with modern insulation systems, problems can arise. Bario Bottino is a scientist at the Institute for Renewable Energy at Eurac Research in Bolzano, Italy. In addition to the main experts, Prof. Dr.-Ing. John Grunewald (IBK, TUD) and Prof. Dr. Alexandra Troi (HS Coburg), members of the commission were Prof. Dr. Claudia Marx (Architectural Conservation and Design, TUD), Prof. Wolfgang Wende (Urban Developement, IÖR and TUD) and Dr. Peggy Freudenberg (TGA, TUD).
