Second Meeting of the WTA Working Group 6.21 "Summer Heat Protection in Existing Buildings" at the TU Munich
On Thursday, July 27, 2023, the second meeting of the working group "Summer heat protection in existing buildings" for the WTA (Wissenschaftlich Technische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Bauwerkserhaltung und Denkmalpflege e.V.) took place at the Technical University of Munich. As a panel, the WTA is concerned with the preparation of guidelines as well as the organization of specialist events on current topics in building preservation and monument conservation. Members include numerous professional experts from the fields of science, engineering practice and building practice. Interested individuals are always welcome to become involved in the WTA, both in the new working group and in the many other groups.
The second meeting of the working group "Summer Thermal Insulation in Existing Buildings" was organized by Dr. Simon Schmidt, head of the Hygrothermics Working Group, Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP) and M. A. Theresa Hilger, restorer from the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments (BLFD). In addition, representatives of the Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU), the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK), the Institute for Diagnostics and Conservation of Monuments in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt e.V. (IDK) and various engineering firms and authorities ( Frank Eßmann THA Eßmann, Dr. Valentina Zanotto Amstein-Walthert, Dunja Kielmann Landesdenkmalamt Baden-Württemberg, Dr. Julia Bachinger https://www.holzforschung.at/, Prof. Dr. Iris Reuter Jade Hochschule, Markus Boley Boley Architektur, Marc Dresden Hansen Ingenieure, Philipp Kelz Taubert und Ruhe GmbH, Dr. Jörg Sigmund STO, Friedrich Minkus ÖBUV Minkus)also participated.
The group is chaired by Dr. P. Freudenberg, supported by Dr. U. Ruisinger. The aim of the working group is to summarize recommendations for action to improve summer thermal insulation in existing buildings for expert planners. The recommendations will relate to different types of building use and different building age classes. A first version of Code of Practice 6.21 is expected to be published in mid/end 2024.
