Objectives and work programme
BONDA Color Design GmbH and the TU Dresden intend to develop a surface technology for aluminium profiles with powder coatings for extreme climate conditions in coastal areas and for industrial centres and conurbations. A new kind of pre-treatment for powder coatings on aluminium is intended to ensure weather resilience, even under the influence of corrosive substances. The pre-anodising treatment that is currently used as standard is to be avoided. The innovative technology will be based on coatings that are currently used in the adhesive and coating industry, primarily to optimise adhesive properties. However, nothing is currently known about how they can protect against corrosion in the intended areas of application. As a result, extensive resilience and longevity testing is required in this research project.
