BIM-SIS
Adaptive, knowledge-based approach for the identification of damages for the refurbishment of Stone structures, coupled with tendering and amendment management for BIM-based working
Project duration: 01.09.2018 – 31.08.2021
Budget / Financial Support: 1.1 / 0.77 Mio. (total); 0.22 Mio. (CIB)
Objectives
BIM-SIS develops an innovative knowledge-based approach for identification of the actual damage state of stone facades and respective refurbishment planning on the basis of a new BIMification method comprising the 3 stages Anamnesis – Diagnosis – Therapy. The proposed stepwise approach is grounded on the application of a dynamic multimodel method, enhanced by a knowledge-based method for detection of various stone damages that cannot be easily deduced by optical non-destructive measurement processes. To assess various refurbishment possibilities from the viewpoint of multiple criteria, the multimodel and analysis tools are complemented by cost estimation and virtual reality modules.
BIM-SIS is structured in 3 distinct phases. In the first phase comes the development of the multimodel and the knowledge-based system. In the second phase, the focus is on the development of the 3-stage BIMification method and the generation of the damage and the refurbishment models. In the third phase, a dynamic tendering/amendment management system including Virtual and Augmented Reality representation of the multimodel space is developed. The overall system is implemented as a BIM-based platform.
The final product of BIM-SIS will be marketed (a) via licensing, (b) SaaS pay-per-use platform, (c) consultancy for refurbishment projects, and (d) training courses and seminars.
