Abstract:
This paper deals with the question of how AI can be used in the construction industry to meet the requirements of efficiency, sustainability and safety. It begins with an introduction to the various categories of artificial intelligence. This is followed by an overview of the various AI learning methods. A central topic of the paper is the discussion of the potential risks and challenges of using AI, particularly with regard to legal aspects, safety and susceptibility to errors as well as moral and social challenges. Ten existing applications of AI in the industry are outlined and three studies are presented that illustrate possible future areas of application. In a final step, the use of AI in quotation calculation was evaluated using a software solution in a cooperation company. The investigations carried out have shown that the results achieved can be rated as satisfactory depending on the master data available and the type of bill of quantities. However, the weaknesses and problems of AI are also discussed. Finally, a conclusion is drawn on the use of AI in the construction industry.
