Specialization Building Energy Management
The planning and construction of buildings today has special demands on civil engineers. Besides the functionality of various fields, the sustainability has to be taken in account. Next to obvious user requirements there are diverse technical boundary conditions to be ensured.
Based between the classical fields of architecture and civil engineering, the Building Energy Manager also is dealing with questions of ecology. With the energetic restoration they contribute to the climate protection of buildings. The modified specialization Building Energy Management (GEM – Gebäude-Energie-Management) satisfies the more and more complex demands of the job market and makes a contribution to the responsibility of civil engineers regarding higher demands concerning planning and constructing buildings.
Upon choosing the modified specialisation GEM the students decide already after the 3rd semester, not as all other specializations after the 4th semester.
The job opportunities of Building Energy Managers are widely spread. To be highlighted are activities in big planning offices, which offer integrated planning of buildings, but also in divisions of building companies, which provide the whole range from turnkey construction projects to public-private partnerships. Excellent job opportunities are also offered on the principle’s side and in facility management.
